What services do you offer?
What’s been my biggest leadership challenge?
Without doubt my biggest leadership challenge was closing down a multi-territory joint venture with a key client. The relationship constituted a material proportion of the revenue of my business, and the joint venture employed over 50 skilled individuals whom we were keen to retain.
What made it so difficult?
The joint venture operated across three different countries, one in Europe and the other two in Latin America. Two of the countries wished to retain a relationship whilst the third wanted to break free. There were also a range of complex technical commercial, tax and employment issues to resolve.
What helped me overcome this challenge?
Firstly we created a strong plan and a multidisciplinary group of internal and external experts. We met regularly and were honest about options, progress and likely outcomes. We worked hard not to fall out with our client and did everything we could to keep an open, pragmatic dialogue with them.
What did I learn?
It’s amazing what can be achieved working collaboratively both with an internal group and a tricky counterparty. The outcome was in the interests of all parties and worked for the employees concerned. Indeed, one division of the business that wished to cease working with us subsequently returned as a client!
What’s my style as a thinking partner?
I am passionate about everyone making themselves the best they can be, and believe coaching can be a key part of helping achieve this. My wide-ranging career means I can support a variety of challenges and needs in a range of businesses and at all career stages. My empathetic, resolution orientated approach is designed to help clients find their own solutions to their challenges with guidance and support.
Key to any successful coaching relationship is the rapport between coach and client. Without this, the real work becomes all but impossible. By building empathy and encouraging my clients to engage in honest self-analysis and reflection, I empower them to take action. This invariably facilitates a change and helps them find their “edge”.
What's my professional background?
Prior to becoming a coach I was an entrepreneurial business leader and corporate problem solver in the marketing and data industries. I was a key member of the senior management team that took the Tesco owned data science consultancy dunnhumby from c.£5M profit in 2002 to c.£90M profit in 2014. I have worked and scaled businesses in more than 20 countries around the world including China, Brazil, the USA and most of Europe. Additionally, I spent two years working as Vice President of Data Services at Liberty Global, Europe’s leading cable company.
I have experience in a number of sectors including: data; retail; fast moving consumer goods; media; sport; law; and gaming. I am a former lawyer, having trained at Magic Circle City law firm Clifford Chance. I was also in-house counsel at International Management Group, the global sports management agency.

What do I do away from work?

There is nothing better than clearing the mind with a beautiful bike ride and then coming home to relax and chat with a delicious glass of wine!!

What people are saying
“Oliver has helped me incredibly. The approach he took with me not only made me think about my core values and needs but also helped me to re-focus on my strengths and give me the confidence to come out the other side of a difficult transition period. The work we have done made that feeling of “I want to change my job but I don’t know where to start” change to a “I’m excited about what possibilities the future holds”. I consider the help Oliver has given me a key turning point in my life.”
Tom, Senior Manager, Blue-Chip Software Multi-national
“Oliver has facilitated a programme on organisational empathy which has comprised workshops and individual coaching for each member of my team. The coaching has been there both to embed the workshop learning and to support team members with their specific developmental needs. Oliver offers expert and professional coaching support. He has been able to understand the needs of the business and individuals alike, and, as a result has enabled my reports to grow and develop individually and collectively.”
